An Old Town resident has been arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse after her six-year-old son, who attends Old Town Elementary School, was found alone in front of Linda’s Restaurant on SR 19 on December 17. According to the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office, Dorothy Ahm, 40, of Old Town, failed to pick up her son and did not realize he was missing until approximately 4:50 p.m.

After the child was released at his regular bus location near his mother’s home off CR 55A at 3:35 p.m., he traveled approximately one mile to Linda’s Restaurant at the intersection of CR 55A and SR 19. Sheriff Dewey Hatcher said the child wandered off because he was unable to find anyone home when he was dropped off after school. Ahm is still being held at the Dixie County Jail under $2,000 bond, according to Hatcher.
