Project to be completed March 2009 Access to Shired Island on CR 357 will soon get easier for residents and visitors to the area. Improvements to the old road began about a month ago, according to Arthur Bellot, Dixie County Coordinator. The entire road, approximately 12 miles, will be widened to 22 feet and resurfaced. Approximate cost of construction is $3,417,600 and is being handled by Anderson Columbia, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. Construction workers have been busy during the last few weeks putting in culvert extensions, widening the shoulders, and performing other road details. Although an exact date of completion for the construction project has not been announced, officials say it should be done by the end of March 2009. |

I thought this road was already funded and was to be done along time ago, and I thought Aurther Bellot retired. OOOPS my mistake, Please keep us updated.
