How beautiful our church looks after the concerted effort from those in our congregation who gave their time and energy during our work-day last Saturday! A huge thank-you to all who participated; this Sunday’s Homecoming will be an even greater success as a result of your dedication.

We invite everyone in the community to our Homecoming, Sunday, March 2nd, beginning with worship service at 11 a.m., followed by dinner in the fellowship hall, and fi nally, a performance by “Southern Grace”, an excellent trio who sing traditional songs of praise and worship.

We enjoyed hearing a delightful duet last Sunday morning from Tina and Whitney, and we were blessed by several guest singers at our monthly sing on Sunday evening.

Pastor Wayne Allen’s message was from Nehemiah 8: 1-10. If you go to church looking for blessings, you will doubtless receive them. But if you attend church with the wrong attitude, you will not feel the blessings that abound. It seems we are always asking God to bless us (e.g. God Bless America!); why don’t WE bless GOD for a change, by living how HE wants us to, and by witnessing for Jesus. We are all saddened by the death of one of our most loved and stalwart members, Hal Chewning Sr. . We will all miss him terribly, particularly his great sense of humor. His ready wit greeted everyone at church; regardless of Mr. Hal’s health, he always had a smile and
a joke. Our prayers surround his family.

Let us not forget all the others on our prayer list who are suffering and need God’s blessings.
Remember, at Lydia everybody is somebody and Christ is everything.
