For nearly 28 years, Joyce Davis has served Dixie County residents as Tax Collector. Her co-workers gave her a surprise retirement party in the courtroom on December 18 at 2 p.m. to show their appreciation. Davis briefly spoke and thanked everyone, especially her co-workers, for giving her the opportunity to serve as Tax Collector. “It has always been an honor,” Davis said while wiping away the tears. “I have loved it and I’m ready to retire.”

Before everyone enjoyed cake and other delicious treats, retired Dixie County Judge Marshall Clements spoke very highly of Davis and gave her a plaque in honor of her service. According to Clements, Davis has conducted herself with integrity, honesty, and has always been courteous to the people who come into her office, whether they are visiting the area or members of the community. “She has always been sweet and tries to keep people working for her and for our citizens here in Dixie County. That is what she has always been noted for,” Clements said.

R. Calahan - Oldtown Says..

Note:anything said can be proven as I have the documents. It is just as well that Joyce retires, now she will not be able to lie, steal or deceive the people of Dixie Co. She should be getting a set of handcuffs and a few good years in prison rather then give her a plaque. WHEN!!! are the people going to stand up for themselves and get(vote) the trash out of our public offices and get this county up to the 21st centery. There are good honest people here, weather they were born here or moved in years ago that would do good, great things for this county and it’s people. As long as you let the family’s run this county you (the people) are not going to get what you pay for in TAXES, Thats if you pay taxes and joyce has not let you get away with not paying them. JOYCE you have a nice day!!!

Concerned Says..

But Joyce Davis was a theif and stole from our county tax payers, and the people of this county. Retired judge Clements stated that Joyce was an honest person , thats a lie , he said she was honest , and had ” Integrity ” which she would not know if it hit her right in the face. Whats even worse is that some of or all of the “people ” working in that office knew she was a theif and if told on they would be sure to loose there job and hasseled from then on by there family members. You ” The Dixie County Times ” say that you are a dependable news source and are committed to your community and it’s citizens, well then print the truth and as long as it is the truth then you have nothing to worry about. No matter what you put over cow dung to cover it, it’s still cow dung. No matter how many Theives you hide in Dixie County, they are still theives !!!!!!R.B. , Oldtown
